An AI astrologer is only as good as the chart underneath it. So we checked ours the way anyone can: pick a date and a place, compute when the Moon changes sign, when the nakshatra, tithi and yoga end, and compare with the almanac most Indian households already trust. Two boundaries agreed exactly and two within one minute.

How the chart is computed
Planetary longitudes come from the VSOP87 planetary theory and the Moon from the Meeus lunar series, the same models behind most professional astronomy software. Tropical longitudes are converted to sidereal with the Lahiri ayanamsa; our value at J2000 is 23.8565° against the published 23.8532°, a systematic 12 arcseconds, or one ten-thousandth of a sign. Birth times are converted from the place's timezone, resolved from coordinates rather than typed, so a chart cannot silently drift by an hour.
Panchang values are evaluated at local sunrise, because that is where the Vedic day begins and where every published almanac quotes them. End times are found by Newton refinement on the ephemeris, and a limb that does not converge is reported as unknown rather than guessed.
What this does and does not make accurate
The astronomy is verifiable and this page verifies it. The interpretation is not a science, and no AI or astrologer can make it one. What a checked ephemeris buys you is that when the AI says your Moon is in Revati or your Venus dasha ends in 2029, the fact is right, and the conversation is about what it means rather than whether it is true. What does "verified against Drik Panchang" mean?
We took one date (31 August 2026, New Delhi), computed when the tithi, nakshatra, yoga and Moon sign change with our own ephemeris, and compared each time with the values Drik Panchang publishes for the same date and place. Two agreed to the minute and two differed by one minute. The table on this page is that comparison, and the regression test that pins it runs on every build.
Which ephemeris does KundaliAI use?
Planetary longitudes come from the VSOP87 planetary theory and the Moon from the Meeus lunar series (the same models behind most professional astronomy libraries), converted to sidereal with the Lahiri ayanamsa. It is not the Swiss Ephemeris, and we do not claim it is; the results agree with published panchangs to the minute, which is what matters for a chart.
Why do panchang values get quoted at sunrise?
Every published panchang states the tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana holding at local sunrise and the time each ends, because the Vedic day (vara) begins at sunrise. Evaluating at noon instead gives a different, equally correct, answer to a different question. We evaluate at sunrise so our numbers line up with any almanac you can check.
Does one minute of difference change a kundali?
Almost never. A Moon sign is 30 degrees wide and the Moon moves about one degree every two hours, so a one-minute difference is roughly 0.5 arcminutes of longitude. It can only matter when a birth falls within a minute or two of a boundary, and in that case the birth time itself is the larger uncertainty.
