Dhana Yoga

Also written Dhan Yoga, Dhana Yog, Dhan Yog, Wealth Yoga

Dhana Yoga, as we check it, forms when the lords of two wealth-related houses stand together in one sign, using the pairs 2nd–11th, 2nd–5th, 2nd–9th, 11th–5th and 11th–9th. The two lords must be different planets; if one planet rules both houses, that pair does not count. It is the engine's test for a classical wealth combination.

A planet that alone rules both houses of a pair is not counted — the engine looks for two different planets together.

What Dhana Yoga is associated with

The 2nd house holds accumulated wealth and family resources, the 11th income and gains, the 5th intelligence and past merit, and the 9th fortune. Classical texts describe links between their lords as combinations for money, and Dhana Yoga is associated with earning capacity, savings and material comfort, often appearing in the periods of the planets involved. The 2nd–11th pairing is usually read as the most direct — what comes in joined to what is kept — while the links with the 5th and 9th lords add luck and good judgement to the picture.

What weakens it, and what this site checks

Classical texts list many Dhana yogas, formed by conjunction, mutual aspect and exchange, and some involve the lagna lord or specific planets in specific signs. Fuller readings also check the dignity of both lords, whether either is combust or rules a dusthana, and the house in which they meet. Our engine checks only conjunction in one sign, for the five pairs listed, and only when the two lords are different planets. It does not check aspect, exchange, the 5th–9th pairing, dignity or house, and it reports the first pair found.

FAQ

Dhana Yoga — common questions

Does Dhana yoga mean I will be rich?

No yoga promises a result. Dhana Yoga is classically associated with the capacity to earn and keep wealth, and how far that shows depends on the strength of the lords involved, their periods and the rest of the chart.

Why is the 5th–9th pair not included?

Our rule requires the 2nd or 11th lord — the houses of wealth and gains — in every pair. A 5th–9th lord link joins two trikonas and is usually read as a combination for fortune; it is not part of this check.

How do I know if I have Dhana yoga?

Identify the lords of your 2nd, 5th, 9th and 11th houses and see whether any listed pair of different planets share a sign. The free kundli at /free-kundli does this automatically and names the pair.
