Malavya Yoga
Also written Malavya Yog, Malvya Yoga, Malavya Mahapurusha Yoga, Malavy Yoga
Malavya Yoga forms when Venus is in Taurus or Libra, its own signs, or in Pisces, its exaltation, and that sign falls in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house from the lagna. It is the Venus member of the five Pancha Mahapurusha yogas, the one associated with comfort, beauty and the arts.

What Malavya Yoga is associated with
Malavya is the Venus type of the Mahapurusha yogas, and texts describe it through refinement: an attractive appearance, a love of beauty, comfort and good things, and an easy charm in company. It is classically associated with the arts, music, design, hospitality, luxury trades and anything that involves taste. Marriage and vehicles are commonly mentioned as areas of good fortune, especially with Venus in the 4th or 7th. The person is described as sociable, well-dressed and contented, enjoying life rather than struggling against it.
What weakens it, and what this site checks
As with the other four, Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra and later texts reduce the result when the planet is combust or joined by the Sun or Moon. Venus is a kendra lord for several ascendants, which fuller readings weigh, and its condition in the navamsa is often considered too. Some authors count kendras from the Moon as well. Our engine checks only Venus in Taurus, Libra or Pisces, with that sign in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th from the lagna. It does not check combustion, conjunctions, degree, the navamsa or kendras from the Moon.

FAQ
Malavya Yoga — common questions
Does Malavya yoga guarantee a good marriage?
No yoga guarantees an outcome. Texts associate Malavya with comfort and harmonious relationships, especially with Venus in the 7th, but marriage is read from the 7th house, its lord and the navamsa as a whole.
Which ascendants can have Malavya yoga?
Taurus and Libra are kendras for the movable and fixed ascendants, and Pisces for the dual ones, so every ascendant can form Malavya yoga in at least one way. It is the only Mahapurusha yoga open to all twelve.
How do I know if I have Malavya yoga?
See whether Venus is in Taurus, Libra or Pisces, and whether that sign is your 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house. The free kundli at /free-kundli computes this from your birth details and lists the yoga if present.
